Senior Editor · AI Companion Platforms · Amsterdam

I cover AI companion apps and AI sex chat platforms the way a reader meets them: sign-up screen first, paywall second, terms page third. The ai sex chat comparison on this site is my work, sources and corrections included.

In Short

I've been a senior editor on AI companion and character-chat platforms since 2022. On this site I cover the explicit end of that category: which AI sex chat platforms let you in without an account, what their free tiers cap, and what their own rules still forbid.

What I Cover

My beat is the platforms people actually sign up to and pay for. Here that means the five on the main page: SpicyChat AI, Nastia AI, Candy AI, DreamGF and CrushOn AI. My wider reading takes in mainstream companion apps such as Character AI, Replika, Chai, Janitor AI, Kindroid and PolyBuzz, which is why the main page can say where a filtered companion app ends and an AI sex chat platform begins.

How I Check a Platform

I start where a reader starts, with the sign-up flow. On 6 October 2026 I went through it live on two of the five platforms: on one I built a companion until the site asked me to register, on the other I sent a first message as a guest and then tried to switch the NSFW filter on. Whatever a live check couldn't show came from the platform's own documents - terms, privacy policy, content rules and pricing pages - quoted with section numbers where they have them.

Outside research goes in with its publisher and date: the Washington Post, Australia's eSafety Commissioner, Common Sense Media and MIT Media Lab on the main page, plus New Zealand's Classification Office and Privacy Commissioner for local rules. When a study covered general companion chat rather than explicit platforms, the page says so instead of stretching the finding. The full process sits on the methodology page.

What I Won't Do

I don't publish sponsored placements, and no platform sees a critical section before it goes live. Some buttons on this site are affiliate links; beyond that disclosed revenue, I hold no financial interest in any platform covered here, and the editorial policy is where any change to that gets logged first. I also don't fill gaps with guesses: when a platform hides its price or its free-tier cap, the comparison table says so.

Contact and Corrections

LinkedIn is the main channel: linkedin.com/in/melissablake1. Corrections, review requests and press questions all go there. A confirmed correction is fixed within seven working days and logged on the editorial policy page.

Where I Work From

Amsterdam. The live checks for this site ran from a European connection, and that matters in this niche, because some platforms switch age checks on by country. Where a platform publishes the list of countries it checks, I report that list rather than what one connection happens to see - New Zealand, for example, isn't on SpicyChat AI's current list.
